Differences From The Comic Version[]
Some scenes in the Motion Comic were changed, cut, or extended with some visual and dialogue alterations, even since the Recalibrated Event. While most panels have been altered to include vfx and animation, these are the significant changes:
- Like how Ben has special info boxes for each transformation, extra panels highlighting examples of Danny’s powers were added. These included his Ghost Sense, Ecto-Energy Constructs, Ice Powers, and his signature move, the Ghostly Wail. It was grouped with a centrepiece of 14-year-old Danny transforming into his first Danny Phantom costume, as his logo shortly fades in. This is a visual demonstration of his origin.
- A shot of Danny’s POV going through the Ghost Portal, traveling across the Temporal Zone, and entering the Null Void was added for enhanced visuals.
- We see a new flashback of the Specter Speeder which was added when Ben explains where they are, along with an image of Servantis.
- When Vlad returns to Earth, we can now see its reflection in his eyes.
Trivia[]
- This episode has the least amount of added animation and multi-plane techniques as the Motion Comic’s editing style was still being developed during production. Each episode’s composition will evolve starting with Episode 2.
- This is Scott Frerichs first proper debut playing Danny Phantom, after being teased in a few promos and trailers. He is the second actor to voice Danny after Nicholas Andrew Louie.
- Melodies and motifs from Danny Phantom and the Ben 10 Franchise are woven into the episode’s original score, including Feedback’s iconic theme music.
- Many of the sound effects heard such as Rook’s Proto-Tool are pulled directly from Ben 10: Protector of Earth and Ben 10: Omniverse (Video Game).
- Ben’s Omnitrix soundboard combines sound cues from all four versions of the watch from the prime franchise.
- As Danny Phantom did not have accessible sound effects authentically from the show, most of his soundboard was made from scratch, including his Ghostly Wail.
- Kellen purchased a MIDI Piano just to create Echo Echo’s voice effect, though he has since used it for other projects.
