Melosea is the Omnitrix's DNA sample of a Wasca from the planet Teish in 5 Years Later.

Appearance[]

Melosea is an amphibian looking alien with six limbs. His skin is mainly blue with light blue spots, the exception being his hands, feet, and mouth which are yellowish. He has a long, yellow tongue. There is a membrane between each of his fingers and toes which are red. He has fins on his forearms, thighs, cheeks, and sides that are teal and magenta. He wears a black and green uniform.

The Omnitrix symbol is located on his chest.

Abilities[]

  • High Speed Swimming- Melosea can achieve great speeds underwater.
  • Underwater Radar- Melosea is able to sense incoming objects due to enhanced hearing in water.
  • Versatile Tongue- Melosea can use its elastic tongue to move around. It also secretes a neurotoxin.
  • Musical Mastery- Melosea instinctively knows how to use any instrument he finds.
  • Vocal Powers- Melosea can use his voice to dissociate enemies or create a powerful scream.
  • Aquatic Features- Melosea is able to breathe and see underwater.
  • Retractable Dorsal Fins- Melosea has fins that he can extend from his forearms, thighs, cheeks, and sides for increased defense and durability. As well as improve his ability to travel in stronger currents.

Weaknesses[]

  • Land Mobility- Melosea is considerable less mobile and athletic compared to when in water.
  • Koteail- Koteail are the natural predators of Melosea’s species. Meaning “Moving Graveyard” in the ancient Wasca tongue, Koteail are massive whale-like beasts that produce a short-lasting chemical that dulls the senses of those who enter its territory, they then use their immense speed and size to burst through the waters to slam into prey getting them stuck on their highly sticky and acidic body.

Mythology[]

A race of omnivorous, bipedal, 4-armed amphibian-like aliens, the Wasca hail from the luscious blue planet Teish. Teish is a planet with interconnected continents with many peninsulas and a lot of seas but no oceans. Each of these seas is considered an independent nation, and it's within these waters that the Wasca thrive. These aquatic lifeforms have a typical lifespan of 200 to 250 Earth years, starting as huge egg clusters hidden beneath local sandy sea banks. When they finally emerge, they start their lives as small, 2-armed, gray, mute, genderless creatures with scrunched-up faces. Emerging from the sands, these infant Wasca go to the local settlements, where they will be raised and cherished by the community as they mature. Eventually, these children will undergo a 2-year developmental process at approximately 30 Earth years. Over the 2-year process, special organs on their back will activate, and as they shrink will release various chemicals and hormones into the child’s body, which, along with different environmental factors, will determine their gender. During this process, they’ll grow in size, their faces will expand, and their second set of arms will start to appear. Eventually, they’ll become either blue-skinned frog-faced males, ranging in height from 5’ 4” to 6’ 5”, or purple-skinned shark-faced females, ranging from 5' 7” to 7’ 3”.

At the end of this 2-year development, the community celebrates all the Wasca who have finished their transitions with a massive party that spans the entire day. The Gymak or “First Noise” in ancient Wasca, is a celebration where children can finally express their newly acquired voices through the greatest joy of the Wasca race, in the form of song. Wasca possess an almost supernatural understanding of music granting them the ability to create musical instruments out of anything. This talent is often attributed in Wasca tradition to the Qato, sentient music notes that want to be played with, and it is said that to play music is to play with the Qato and be blessed with their knowledge and joy. Music in Wascan society has become more of a form of expression than a show of skill, and it’s during these parties that new adult Wasca gets to experience that joy for the first time and create a brand new song for all to enjoy. Such a progressive view on music has allowed them to develop a wide range of genres and musical styles but continue to improve upon and experiment within.

Upon the universe's discovery of their musical talent, thousands of intergalactic record companies flocked to Teish to profit from these musically genius amphibians. With the promise of spreading their music to the universe and funds to help expand and grow their homeworld, hundreds of Wasca agreed to the terms of these visitors and set out to the stars. Upon their reveal to the intergalactic music stage, the universe's inhabitants declared them some of the greatest musicians of all time, with all their songs becoming humongous hits on the galactic extranet. But the cruel, galactic music industry is something even these musically energetic amphibians were woefully unprepared for. Many Wasca avoided this fate, but far more signed horrible contracts, putting them through slave labor. Even the Wasca, masters of their field, could barely keep up with the competitive and demanding nature of the industry. Soon many were unable to meet demand and were cast aside and sold off to slave traders for a quick tayden. These ruthless slave traders took advantage of their musical talent and the deadly neurotoxin of the Wasca salvia to market them as personal musicians or assassins. The popularity of the Wasca in the slave trading market soon began a frenzy of secret abductions and kidnappings all across Teish. According to reports, over 400 Wasca became victims of these horrid conditions before it was uncovered.

Fortunately, this isn't as big a problem because of the famed Galvan lawyer Chadzumuth and the Plumbers locating and freeing the enslaved Wasca. . Even with their freedom, the scars of these events remain, with the victims of these events continuing to go through psychological treatment with many Wasca unaccounted for. Teish is currently undergoing a massive debate on whether to become an isolated system. The fiends responsible for the immense suffering of their people are still at large, along with the many other terrors of the stars.

A majority of citizens are supportive of being an isolated system, with a group of radicals known as the Solo Symphony being the most extreme and vocal. But there’s another opposition to the movement prevented it from going into full effect, allowing the debate to continue for as long as it has; the Cosmic Chorus. Though they cannot erase the actions of the past, the Cosmic Chorus seeks to educate the planet's citizens about the galaxy and show the Wasca what they will both ultimately lose and even risk if they go through with the isolation.

The organization receives massive funding from many intergalactic powerhouses, such as the Plumbers, most notably the former Tetramand Warlord Gar Red Wind and his family. The Red Winds are close friends with a Wasca named Bollif, who was taken by Gar's wife as the "Something Blue" for their wedding and subsequently became the musician for the after-party. Despite his initial fear, Bollif was pleasantly delighted by Gar and his wife's treatment of him, and the three quickly grew close to one another at the after-party.  After the ceremony, Bollif returned home, but he still visits Khoros now and then, even becoming an uncle figure to Gar's daughter, the current co-empress of the DreadWind Empire, Looma DreadWind. Eventually, Bollif joined the Cosmic Chorus, and Gar subsequently became a major ally of the organization in support.

Despite the Cosmic Chorus's efforts to dissuade the isolationists, they still have a big issue to overcome: to educate their people properly, they must engage with people of other alien races. Due to Teish's unstable and occasionally violent political climate, most species are reluctant to settle there, apart from the few who visit the planet occasionally for educational tours. Thankfully, a music-loving species known as the Chiroptera Ludwi, a race of bat-like aliens from Classicermani, have been brave enough to migrate to the planet's land mass to build a favorable relationship with the locals. The Chiroptera Ludwi view the Wasca as their brothers in song and wish to save them from their fear and hate. The Wasca make this difficult due to continuous threats and attacks from Solo Symphony extremists. Still, the Chiroptera Ludwi has shown immense bravery and continues to persevere, refusing to back down in their efforts to save the Wasca from themselves. Whether or not the efforts of the Cosmic Chorus and their allies will truly affect what happens next remains to be seen. For now, it is truly uncertain when the songs of love and joy will finally return to the waters of Teish.

History[]

Before 5 Years Later[]

  • Ben first transformed into Melosea during an escort mission of a very famous Wasca music group who were performing a galactic music tour in order to disprove the beliefs of the Solo Symphony. When Ben transformed into his Wasca form, one of the band members immediately shouted out "Melosea!" stating he had thought about what Ben’s Wasca name should be for some time. Ben found the name fitting and decided to stick with it.

Trivia[]

  • The original design of Melosea was created using the video game Spore.
  • Melosea's name is a combination of Melody which refers to his musical abilities and Sea referring to his aquatic nature.
  • Melosea original did not possess retractable dorsal fins in his power set. Rather it was added later when the creator notice Rob forgot to put fins on his right arm.
  • The Wasca's first spore design was much different from the current design, being much larger in both size and height, having sharp bone like fingers, six arms, six eyes and large feet. They were also originally a war like species fighting against a race of aliens known as the Infectors.
  • The creator of the original design made a version of Melosea in spore based off of Kuro’s interpretation.
  • Wasca have a total of 4 parts to their name, a given name, a surname, a country name which is based on which ocean they live in, and a note name which signifies which music they are most adapted to that they are given after their 2 year transition.
  • The Wasca often chant the words “Wasca, Wasca, oota eata ora!” whenever they're partying or simply having a good time. The chant translates as “Wasca, Wasca, we sing with joy!” It is said so often by their people that many believe it is a code by which they live. They believe that music, no matter what kind, whether rebellious, sorrowful, or frightening, should always be sung with joy or, at the very least, be a form of catharsis for the singer.
  • Wasca fin’s sometimes extend when they feel relaxed.
  • Outside of their music Wasca are known for their advances in Geothermal energy.
  • Melosea can swim at speeds that are on par with a Piscciss Volann.
  • Melosea is seen as particular attractive by other Wasca due to the bits of red and magenta on his body which is a rare and attractive trait to their species.
  • In the poster making stream Fro mentioned he's a fan of Melosea because of how it's an alien made in Spore.
  • Several alien travelers can be seen lounging about in the Fung Gully on X'Nelli in the 10th episode of And Beyond, some of these aliens are references to various characters from the show Breaking Bad. Such as an Archimargian as Walter White, a Planchaküle as Jesse Pinkman, and a Wasca as Badger.
  • Melosea, along with the transformations Dental Dam, Pre-Oxidized Bloodline, Backwash, Cryonyx, Crazyvulgar, Head Chef, Disk Jokey and the final form of Floof, Floofiest. All made cameo appearances in the Ink Tank's 300k Subscriber Special, What Ben 10 CAN and CAN’T Turn Into | Rules of the Omnitrix.
  • Melosea was featured in the video Non-Ben 10 Fan Guesses Real or Fake Aliens PART 2 as the 23rd alien at the 22 minute 12 second mark. Melosea was able to trick the guest Paul D into believing that he was an alien from the show, with Paul taking a shot to learn his powers. Paul stated that this was one of his favorite aliens and congratulating the creator on his design. This is the second time a creator was given a shot out for their design, the first being Hotline Carbon for his alien, Hexaposs, in the previous video Can A Non-Ben 10 Fan Guess Real or Fake Aliens? (Drinking Game). The creator in response commented on the video, "This is Flamereaper saying take a shot b****h! Woho!!!" for which Paul gladly did so.
